Broken down Glad to hear philthewok got back home ok, after his breakdown in Gainsborugh, and that he got a new battery fitted to keep him going. Its along walk back to Scunthorpe , thank goodness for the rescue services.
You should have at least 13.5 volts at the battery when the engine is running and the ammeter should show a constant but small charge. A good way to tell if the generator is working is to rev it up with the lights on in the dark and if they go brighter then the generator is putting out a current.n Then check the battery voltage with the engine off and then running. there should be a slight increase in voltage, then check with the lights on to make sure that the lights are not taking it all and leaving nothing in reserve.
