Festival of the Plough Anyone with nothing to do tomorrow, Sunday, 16th September, 2007 then there's The Festival of the Plough at Low Burnham, near Epworth on the A161 south of the M180 at junction 2.
There'll be human, horse, steam and tractor ploughing competitions, stationary engines, old cars, trucks, motorbikes, etc, craft tents and lots of other bits.
I'll be there, operating amateur radio.
A great day out but it may be the very last one ever.

Hi Dave nice to hear from you. Why do you think it will be the last one ever, is it the proverbial red tape killing it off or do you think it lack of attendance ?

Festival of the Plough The farm where it's been held for years has been sold and the new owners may not be prepared to run the farm with the practices needed to free up so very much land at this time of year for the festival to take place. Another venue is being sought for 2008, but nothing's certain (even Northern Rock!!).
It's amazing to be on top of the hill at Low Burnham and see the vast expanse of flatness that is the Isle of Axholme.
The weather still looks promising.

A superb day. Lots of people. Lots to see and experience. But very windy and very dusty!
I was operating amateur radio and had to apologise to other radio club members as so many visitors to our stall wanted to talk about my Electra X that I'd parked at the back of the stall and not amateur radio!!!
