Hydraulic clutch, rev couinter and cv carb. I am still having problems with my hydraulic clutch conversion i got from Hitchcocks. Originally the clutch was much too heavy and after trying different routes and cable options i thought i would try the hydraulic version. The clutch unit was checked out and then the new unit fitted. What a pig to bleed but eventually all the air was out. The clutch appeared lighter. When the bike was run up all that we got was dragging and slipping at the same time. We tried adusting again and then noticed a fluid leak out of the slave cylinder seal. This was sent back and another one obtained. We fitted it and still no joy. We have noticed that the hole for the slave cylinder to go in , where the cable come out of, is set too far to the front so causing the arm to pull off center. Without taking the inner plate off and welding up and re drilling the hole i have decided to put the cable back on for now so that at least it can be used.
The rev counter came from Hitchcocks. This was fitted and was ok for about 200 miles and then started to jump about and then stop working. Wiring was checked and double checked for feeds and continuity and all was ok. It was sent back and a new one was sent by return. This was fitted and all was well for a while and this has now started to play about again.
The cv carb fitted to try out with the high comp piston has not proved satisfactory. It has a massive mid range flat spot and even after jetting and needle altering, which marginaly improved it, it still remains flat. We have one on our demonstrator classic 500 e start with standard compression and it goes brilliantly. Must be the higher comp piston.
Still trying to get done for the weekend.
